Our story
Started on word of mouth, and it stuck
Abbey Group started as Abbey Gas in 2008, when James Eddon set up as a gas and heating engineer in Whitby. He was better at doing the work than at shouting about it, and the business grew the honest way, on word of mouth and repeat customers.
As more people asked whether the team could take on the rest of the job, not just the boiler, Abbey grew into a full multi-trade group and became Abbey Group in 2024. Today one team covers plumbing and heating, renovations, building and joinery, and electrical work, so you have one number to call for the whole house.
That is still the idea behind everything: one local team you can trust, for whatever your home needs.
