Renovations
Kitchens, bathrooms and extensions, project-managed start to finish by one local team who leave your house better than they found it. From the first drawing to the final clean, you have one number to call and one team who own the result.
What we do
Whether it is one room or the whole house, we design it, build it and finish it as a single project.
Bespoke kitchens designed around how you actually live, fitted to a standard that lasts.
From family bathrooms to en-suites and wet rooms, tiled and finished with care.
Single and multi-storey extensions that add real space and value, built to last.
Bigger projects taken on end to end, with everything coordinated by one team.
Quartz and granite worktops, templated and fitted, and the details that make a room feel finished.
How we work
A renovation goes wrong when nobody owns it. With us, one team manages the whole job, so you are not left coordinating a builder, a plumber, an electrician and a joiner yourself.
What an AMAZING company Abbeygas of Whitby are, all the way from the owner, James.
Twelve months after we fit a kitchen, we return and check it over, realigning any doors and drawers that have settled with use. Nobody asks us to. We do it because a kitchen should still feel right a year on, not just on handover day.
Who we work with
On a renovation, the materials matter as much as the labour. We buy from people we know and trust, and a lot of it is local. That means you get exceptional, high-quality work rather than generic materials marked up.
Worktops come from Sparkle Granite in Guisborough, templated, made and fitted to measure. Building materials come from MKM in Whitby, and flooring from Fletcher & Woodhouse, trusted local flooring experts of over 20 years.
For heating and hot water we fit names people trust, including Worcester Bosch and Ideal, with Nu-Heat and UK Underfloor for underfloor heating, and Calor for off-grid LPG.
Money stays local, and the quality comes from suppliers we have worked with for years.
Our work
Recent projects across Whitby and North Yorkshire include Riviera, Esplanade, Linfitt, Customs House, Argyle Road, our Morrisons project with a loft conversion, and Danby Castle. Three are shown here, with more to follow as the photography comes in.

What our clients say
James was excellent. Great price, even better than the quote! Jobs done cleanly and efficiently. Will definitely be using James again!
Did some work for us after our upstairs radiators wouldn't work. Turned up when they said they would and the work was carried out to a great standard, and when they left couldn't tell they had been. Apart from piping hot radiators.
We could not have been happier with Abbey Group who came to install a new boiler at very short notice. They were very professional, knowledgeable and were tidy workers too.
Timely, informative, helpful and a lovely fella. All business should be run like this.
These are the places we work most often:
Plus the villages in between, and we are based at 20 Skinner Street, Whitby YO21 3AJ. If you are nearby and not sure whether we reach you, ask.
Questions people ask
Yes. One team manages the job from first drawing to final clean, with a single point of contact and trades that arrive in the right order. You are not left chasing separate contractors or working out what happens next.
Yes. We plan holiday-let and second-home renovations around your booking calendar, working to agreed dates so the property is ready for guests. Bring your key dates to the consultation and we build the programme around them.
Yes. We source a lot of our materials locally, including worktops from Sparkle Granite in Guisborough and building materials from MKM in Whitby, alongside recognised brands like Worcester Bosch, Ideal and Nu-Heat. You get quality you can trust rather than generic materials marked up.
It depends on the size and spec. As a rough guide, a bathroom usually takes one to two weeks, a kitchen two to four weeks, and a larger extension or whole-house renovation several months. We give you a clear programme with your quote so you know what to expect.
Part of the same project
Made-to-measure joinery and structural work, from staircases and fitted furniture to the building side of a project.
Rewiring, lighting and certification as part of a renovation, so the electrical work is not a separate contractor to chase.
